Jejím iniciátorem je bezskrupulózní pražský taxikář, který se podílí na krádežích starožitností a jejich pašování do ciziny. Tomáš (Jiří Klem) žije s oddanou milenkou, stále však myslí na svou osudovou lásku Kamilu, která emigrovala do Švýcarska. Právě kvůli ní naplánuje loupež vzácné známky, k níž přemluví své naivní bratry. Zdánlivě jednoduchá krádež se nepodaří a málem skončí smrtí nevinného člověka. Selže i plánovaný útěk přes hranice, v němž hraje klíčovou roli uhlazený švýcarský obchodník… Průhled do dobového podsvětí – zosobněného mafiánským starožitníkem (Zdeněk Ornest) a otrlou barmankou (Marie Drahokoupilová) – se prolíná s psychologickou sondou. Vypráví o vztahu cynického desperáta k jeho ustarané matce a důvěřivým bratrům.
